Training Programs

New York City College of Technology (City Tech)

Dept. of Mechanical Engineering & Industrial Design Tech

The K-12 STEM Program  (15 high school students):

This is a 1-week summer program to selected students from high schools near City Tech as. It will give students and future STEM educators exposure to medical devices, design and manufacturing, robotics in the medical field, and some hands on tutorials.

New York City College of Technology (City Tech)

Summer Training in Additive Manufacturing. (20 students)

6/5 – 6/7/2017, 6/26 – 6/29/2017

This is a two week intensive program to provide opportunities for undergraduate students, to engage in STEM education activities -that capitalize on NASA-unique assets and content (-NASA Multi-year Performance Goal FY 2015 and FY 2014 2.4.5). Acceptance to this summer program is competitive and restricted to maximum of 20 undergraduate students.. The workshop will include many research and hands on activities including:

a.  Intensive workshop on the AM technologies. This will be a 20- hour hands-on session approximately presented by Mr. Michael Parker in three days. Each participating student will be given the hardware and software to make his/her own 3D printer under direct supervision of Mr. Parker. The workshop will help students learn more about mechanism of 3D printers, its software and hardware, and how it is programmed. Additionally, it will expose students to the technologies and underlying concepts of AM.

b. The summer program at City Tech will host all Co-Is from City Tech, NASA engineer Ms. Karen Taminger, Prof. Ola Harrysson and many invited speakers to present STEM and AM research experience, and discuss collaboration plans.
